Availability of PFET Positions

  • Duration of fellowship: 6 months or 12 months
  • Start dates: February or August
  • Number of positions – single position

Description of Programme

  • Size of Unit: 9 Consultants, 1 Fellow, 0.5 SET trainees, 1.5 Service registrars, 1 RMO)
  • Number of consultants involved with PFET training (8)
  • Mixed unit (6 orthopaedic and 3 plastic surgeons)
  • Public unit Case mix:
    80% trauma/ 20% elective, 80% hand vs 20% wrist
  • Fellow’s timetable: morning meeting with team 08:00 each day, followed by either clinic or theatre in AM and theatre each PM. Sufficient space for research in PM sessions.
  • Likely specific points of training focus eg high volume unit of common hand conditions and complex problems.

We have high volumes of common traumatic conditions and are ideal for research in these
areas.

**Specific Areas covered:

  • Nerve surgery / some access to brachial plexus possible
  • Arthroscopy
