Availability of PFET Positions:

  • Duration of Fellowship: 12 months (6 months at each hospital)
  • Start dates: February
  • One position available each year

Description of Programme:

  • Size of Units: Sydney Hospital – 10 Consultants, 3 SET trainees (2 Ortho and 1 Plastic Surgery); St Luke’s Hospital – 5 Consultants
  • Number of consultants involved with PFET training: All involved
  • Mixed unit: 6 Orthopaedic / 4 Plastic Surgery
  • Public / private mix
  • Case-mix: Sydney – trauma/ elective, hand and wrist; St Luke’s – mainly elective
  • Fellow’s timetable: Daily Hand Clinics, 1-2 operating lists a week, teaching in Clinics and theatre, 2 weekly meetings, bi-monthly Journal Club meetings
  • Training focus: Soft tissue, trauma, arthroscopic surgery, Microsurgery
